Assisi

An original painting of Assisi, Umbria by Julie Colclough, hand painted on a vintage map of the area. Julie initially sketched the Basilica on location after visiting the medieval masterpieces of Giotto inside, and painted this finished study on her return to the studio.

The medieval city of Assisi can be seen from afar due to its hilltop location, and is most famous as the birthplace of Saint Francis. It’s medieval art masterpieces include the Basilica of San Francesco itself, and paintings by Cimabue, Pietro Lorenzetti, Simone Martini and Giotto.

The original painting of Assisi is on a square box canvas. Price £550. This measures 12 inches x 12 inches (30.5 cm x 30.5 cm) and the painting wraps around the edges. Framing is available on request however this painting works extremely well as a box canvas.
