Cordoba
This original painting of Corboba captures the city’s history of Roman, Moorish and Spanish culture in Julie Colclough’s unique style. She spent a week sketching on location in this beautiful city, creating individual sketches of many views which later inspired this finished studio painting.
Córdoba was once the capital of El Andalus, now famous for it’s iconic Mezquita Cathedral, an elegant mosque converted into a Renaissance-style church.
Julie Colclough chooses a different Spanish city each year to explore and sketch. Recent trips include Granada, Seville, Cordoba, Cadiz, Malaga, Barcelona and Valencia. Her sketchbooks of the architecture and landscape often inspire memorable paintings in our Chester studio on The Rows. Pop in to the gallery to see the latest.
