Old Dee Bridge, from Chester walls
The sky over the Old Dee Bridge is different every day and provides endless inspiration for Julie. This view towards Handbridge will be recognised by anyone who has walked the Roman Walls. Like many of Julie’s paintings, it is partially painted over a vintage map. If you look closely you will see it also includes beautiful quotes about the River Dee which Julie found in an old book.
This stunning original painting on canvas measures 30″ x 26″ (frame size) and is now SOLD, however see Julie’s new painting of the bridge below, and our limited editions of just 75 prints.

The current bridge was built around 1387 but an earlier bridge here was mentioned in the Doomsday Book. It is made with local red sandstone and each of the seven arches has different dimensions. Just five minutes walk from the Julie Colclough Gallery, it is one of our favourite places to walk and watch the world go by.
