Watergate Row, Chester

Watergate Row, Watergate Street

Original painting on canvas by Julie Colclough.

Our view from the gallery door, looking along The Row towards Bishop Lloyd’s Palace and the steps to Watergate Street. Inspired by Louise Rayner’s paintings of Chester from the 1800s but painted as is it now.

One of a series of paintings where Julie has been recreating the same views, using similar angles but replacing the Victorian people of Chester with those who live, work or shop on The Rows today.

Our gallery is situated on Watergate Row, just to the right of Bishop Lloyd’s Palace.

  • Original painting now framed in the gallery
  • Framed limited edition Fine Art giclee prints also available (edition of 75)

All our editions are the best possible quality giclee or canvas prints using archival inks: the best in the industry. Prices start at £95.

Visit the gallery or contact us to reserve, order or enquire.

Watergate Street is one of the 4 original Roman streets of Chester, all of which are home to the unique Rows. The four Roman roads meet at the Cross (or High Cross) in the centre of the painting.
