Chester Cathedral Doortrait

Cathedral Chester Door

Chester Cathedral South West Door

Regular visitors to Chester Cathedral may recognise this beautiful door within the larger South West door, built in 1536.

It is painted on an old map of Chester, partly hidden under the paint you will also find various signs and documents relating to the cathedral, including the wedding details of some of Julie’s ancestors who were married here in 1825. The website does not do justice to Julie’s paintings – drop in to our gallery on The Rows for a closer look.

This new ‘doortrait’ is one of several new additions to Julie’s long running door series (started over 40 years ago), after the previous series of originals completely sold out.
