Venice Santa Maria della Salute

Venice Santa Maria Della Salute

Venice Santa Maria Della Salute is the magnificent basilica which can be seen across the entrance to the Grand Canal. Julie Colclough loved painting this large statement piece on a vintage map of Venezia after one of her many trips here.

Julie has been a regular visitor to Italy since the mid-1960s, when her father took the family camping for a month every summer. A life-long love of Italy, art and architecture was born.

Every visitor to Venice will recognise this famous dome which can be seen across the water from St Mark’s square. Known for short as the ‘Salute’ it is one of the most important historic buildings for Venetians. The Basilica was founded in 1631, built to commemorate the survival of the city from the terrible plague which killed so many of the population.

‘Salute’ of course means ‘health’.

The original painting of Venice looks absolutely stunning on our gallery wall and is beautifully framed by our bespoke framers. The frame measures 39 inches x 31inches (100 cm x 79.5 cm) . Price £3450.
