Amalfi Italy
An original painting of Amalfi by Julie Colclough which is hand-painted on a vintage map and documents from the area. Julie initially sketched the scene early one morning from a cafe table in the Piazza del Duomo, and painted this finished study on her return to the studio.
Amalfi Cathedral is dedicated to the Apostle Saint Andrew whose relics are kept here. Visitors to Amalfi will often be treated to the wonderful spectacle of a wedding here. The buzz of the crowd stops while the bride and her father begin their ascent of the stairs, a magical experience that we have seen several times on our visits.
This original painting of Amalfi is not yet framed. It measures 23 inches x 16 inches (59 cm x 41 cm). Framing is available on request or we can post unframed.
Limited editions are available on request, we currently have one in stock along with a small edition of Ravello. Free UK postage
Visit the gallery or contact us to reserve, order or enquire. Please message first if travelling to Chester because Julie is often painting on location and we don’t want to miss you.
Julie has been a regular visitor to Italy since the mid-1960s, when her father took the family camping for a month every summer. A life-long love of Italy, art and architecture was born.
